As a non-profit agency Lo-Se-Ca must fundraise in order to offer higher quality services. A large source of fundraising dollars is derived from the I’m Unique Thrift Store which located in the Campbell Business Park in St. Albert.
The I’m Unique Thrift Store is completely run by Volunteers and participants of the Discoveries Day Program. We are grateful to the community who provide us with many wonderful donations that are processed and placed in the store for sale. Because of the steady stream of donations we are able to offer incredible savings on all of our items. You will be hard pressed to find lower prices in any thrift store throughout Edmonton or St. Albert.

We are located in the Campbell Business Park in St. Albert in close proximity to the Apex Casino. Please do not park directly in front of the store entrance as that space is reserved for accessible parking.
All donations must be delivered to the rear of the building where there is a large bay door that leads to our receiving area. You must actually leave your donations with a representative of Lo-Se-Ca. There is a doorbell on the wall at the back in order for you to receive assistance with your donation.
PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE DONATIONS ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE BUILDING. THIS IS DUMPING AND IT IS ILLEGAL.
While many times people feel they are doing us a favor by dropping off their donations and leaving them outside, the reality is that it hurts the organization and the individuals we support.
When items are left outdoors they are subject to the weather which often ruins items that would have otherwise been wonderful donations. There are also people who like to rummage through bags after hours helping themselves to free items. These people leave donations lying all over the parking lot and it makes an incredible mess that staff and the Discoveries participants must clean up the following day.
We have had many occasions where our Bus has been blocked in by donations leaving our Bus driver to clear a path by herself for the early morning bus run. This then affects the pick up time for every individual causing significant disruption to the program and to staff.
We accept an incredible amount of different kinds of items. However, here is a list of what we DO NOT ACCEPT:
- MATTRESSES: you wouldn’t believe the mattresses we have seen
- LARGE APPLIANCES: Dishwashers/Fridges/Ovens/Washers/Dryers
- TELEVISIONS (any kind)
- COMPUTERS (any kind)
- FOOD ITEMS: Including canned goods (Please use the local Food Bank)
- SOILED, RIPPED, TORN, STAINED ITEMS: clothing, furniture, etc.
- PORNOGRAPHY/X-RATED OBJECTS
- BURNED CD’S AND MIXED TAPES
- ARTIFICIAL CHRISTMAS TREES
- BBQ’S AND PROPANE TANKS
- OLD BOOKS (yellowed, falling apart)
- SPORTING EQUIPMENT
- INCOMPLETE SETS: puzzles, board games, etc.
- STUFFED TOYS
- BABY FURNITURE: cribs, car seats, high chairs, etc. (we do accept baby clothing)
- Furniture will only be accepted with visual inspection of the Thrift Store Manager. Please phone ahead @ 780-460-4343.
There are good reasons why we do not accept the above items. Many of them are not safe for our staff, volunteers, and Discoveries participants to handle or safe for our customers to purchase. Many are inappropriate and would not sell in our store. When we are burdened with these items we must pay to dump them which takes away from our fundraising dollars and ultimately the people we support.
Please respect the above Donations guidelines. If you have any questions about what items you can donate please contact the Thrift Store Manager at 780.460.4343. If you are not sure it is best to phone ahead and make arrangements to prevent being denied at the door and wasting a trip to Lo-Se-Ca.
